Women's Golf Finishes Third at Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Northwestern women's golf team finished in third place for the second-consecutive tournament, this time doing so at the Wolverine Invitational, held at the University of Michigan Golf Course. The Wildcats posted rounds of 321 and 334 to finish the tournament with a team total of 655, behind only Michigan State (626) and Purdue (652). The tournament was shortened to 36 holes on Sunday due to inclement weather.

Individually, Karen England was one of four Wildcats in the top 20, posting rounds of 78-81 to finish in sixth place at 13-over-par 159. MSUs Kasey Gant won the tournament by eight strokes over her nearest competitor, shooting a total of 2-over-par 148. Freshman Emily Gilley notched her second-straight top-10 finish, tying for ninth place at 162 (77-85).

Christie Hermes and Colleen Kiely each tied for 18th place at 167. Hermes posted rounds of 84-83 while Kiely shot 82-85. Rounding out the NU scores were Amylou Dueck (t27th, 85-85=170) and Kristen Beystehner (t50th, 91-85=176).

The Wildcats next tournament is the Big Ten-Big 12 Collegiate Golf Shootout, scheduled for Oct. 12-13 in Franklin, Ind.
