Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at Bonita Bay Invitational

BONITA BAY, Fla. - Freshman Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) fired rounds of 75-76 to finish tied for third place at this weekend's Bonita Bay Invitational at the Bay Island Golf Course. Gilley's 36-hole score of seven-over-par 151 was six strokes behind tournament champion Patty Frohna of Wisconsin. Cincinnati's Jena Harris took runner-up honors at 149 while Iowa's M.C. Mullen and Michigan State's Emily Bastel tied Gilley for third place.
The Wildcats, ranked 25th in the latest Golfweek magazine poll, finished in fourth place as a team. NU fired rounds of 314-313 for a team total -313 for a team total of 627, 12 strokes behind tournament champion Wisconsin. Ninth-ranked Michigan State was in second place at 619 followed by Minnesota at 624.
Other Wildcat individual scores included Christie Hermes (t15th, 79-78=157), Karen England (t28th, 79-81=160), Amylou Dueck (t34th, 81-80=161), Kristh, 79-81=160), Amylou Dueck (t34th, 81-80=161), Kristth, 79-81=160), Amylou Dueck (t34th, 81-80=161), Kristen Beystehner (t46th, 84-81=165) and Colleen Kiely (87-79=166).
This marked the final fall tournament for the NU women's golf team. The Wildcats return to action next February 22-23 at the GTE Memorial in College Station, Texas.
