EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's women's fencing team had a busy opening weekend at home, as its members competed in the USFA Burton Open, held Oct. 10, and as a team at the Big Ten Club Championships on Oct. 11.

At the USFA Burton, NU fencers grabbed top spots in two out of three weapon competitions. Freshman Maggie Kerbdle finished first in the foil competition, with junior Erin Epstein finishing runner-up. Freshman Jen Greenebaum was the winner in the epe competition. In the sabre, senior Magaret Magnarelli was NU's highest finisher, coming in fourth.

Northwestern nabbed the top women's spots in all three competitions at the Big Ten Club Championships. Kerbdle won the women's foil a second time, sophomore Carly Wells won the sabre competition, while Greenebaum again earned first in epe.
