Witt and Silva Fall at Men's Tennis Championships

ATHENS, Ga. -- Northwestern's Alex Witt (Houston, Texas/Memorial) and Marc Silva (Telford, Pa./Pennridge) each lost in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship today.

Witt, seeded No. 30, fell to 29th-seeded James Blake of Harvard, 6-3, 2-6, 2-6. Silva, seeded No. 47, lost to 48th-seeded Michal Chinela of LSU, 6-4, 7-5. Witt, a three-time All-Big Ten honoree, finished the season with a 30-11 overall record. Silva, the 1998 Big Ten Player of the Year, compiled a 28-6 record on the season.
