Wildcat Fencing Splits at Temple Duals.

The NU women's fencing team went 2-2 on Feb. 7 in four matches fenced at Temple University. The women defeated St. John's (20-12), ranked No. 10 in last season's final poll, and Johns Hopkins (24-8), while losing to last year's No. 6 Temple (14-18) and defending national champion Penn State (6-26). Northwestern's record now stands at 17-5 overall, 17-5 in the foil, and 15-7 in the epe.
Freshman foilist Maggie Kebrdle (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph's) was named Wildcat Female Athlete of the Week for her 10-5 weekend that included three wins each against St. John's, Johns Hopkins and Temple. Kebrdle is 33-9 on the season overall.
Junior Epeist Meghan Gaseor (Lebanon, Ill./Belleville Township East) was the only NU fencer with two individual wins vs. Penn State. She went 8-6 on the weekend. Freshman Jen Greenebaum (Mendham, N.J./Pingrey School), who was 7-8 at Temple, is still the team's leader in the epe with a 57-18 record on the season. Sophomore Carly Wells (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) went 7-0 in the sabre, improving her season record to 29-2 in the exhibition weapon.
