EVANSTON, Ill. - Junior epeist Meghan Gaseor (Lebanon, Ill./Belleville Township East) and freshman foilist Kristen Dorf (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) were selected today to participate in the NCAA Fencing Championships, to be held March 18-21 in Waltham, Mass.

At the NCAA Midwest Regional qualifying meet, Gaseor finished in fifth place among epeists, posting a 7-4 record against the region's other top 11 competitors. She finished the 1999 season with a numeric rank of fourth in the region. She automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships, which include five automatic foil and epe selections from the Midwest and 24 selections in each weapon nationally. Gaseor finished the 1999 regular season with a 50-29 epe record.

With an 8-3 mark in the final round of the Midwest Regionals, Dorf tied for second in wins in the foil competition, but a low touch count slipped her to a sixth place finish. Finishing behind the automatic five qualifiers, she was one of two foilists in the country to receive an at-large selection. Dorf finished the 1999 regular season with an 88-19 foil record.
