Tierney Named to Coaching Staff of World University Games

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern womens swimming and diving head coach Jimmy Tierney was named to the USA coaching staff for the 1999 World University Games. Tierney will serve as an assistant under Bill Rose of Mission Viejo (Calif.) for the meet which will be held July 8-13, 1999 in Mallorca, Spain.

Tierney is in his fifth season as the head coach at Northwestern and he led the Wildcats to a school record tying 10th-place finish at the 1998 NCAA Championships last season. The United States roster includes current Northwestern swimmers Courtney Allen and Amy Balcerzak as well as recent NU graduate Ashley Mosher.
