Men's Soccer Beats Drake on Last Minute Goal
6/21/1999 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
October 11, 1998
Summary: He entered this afternoon's game with a collegiate career that amounted to only 23 minutes of playing time, but that didn't prevent Northwestern freshman midfielder Grant Trimble (Olathe, Kan./Olathe North) from having a major impact today. Trimble took a pass from senior Dan Merz (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and dribbled past two defenders to score the game-winning goal, the first of his career, off a 15-footer two minutes before the end of regulation.
Trimble logged three of the Wildcats' season-high 18 shots in a game that was played 10-on-10 for the final 73 minutes after two early red cards. Northwestern is now 6-2-1 on the season in non-conference play.
