Greg Davis Named Assistant Men's Tennis Coach

EVANSTON, Ill. - Greg Davis has been named assistant men's tennis coach at Northwestern University, it was announced today by head coach Paul Torricelli. Davis comes to Northwestern from Wake Forest, where he has spent the past two seasons as assistant coach. Prior to his time in Winston-Salem, Davis served as an assistant coach for the mens tennis program at Rice University.

Last year, Davis helped lead Wake Forest to its first-ever berth into the NCAA regionals. He also helped develop the Rice Owls into a top-50 program before taking the Wake Forest position. Davis served as recruiting coordinator during his tenure at both schools.

Davis played collegiately for two seasons at Kankakee (Ill.) Community College before transferring to Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI). He led Kankakee to its first-ever appearance in the NJCAA national championships while later helping IUPUI to its best-ever finish at the NAIA district championships. While at Kankakee Community College, Davis advanced to the round of 16, in both singles and doubles, at the 1989 National Junior College Championships .

Davis graduated in 1994 from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis with a B.A. in political science.
