BERKELEY, Calif. - California junior forward Kelli Mirassou scored with 11 minutes remaining the opening period as the Cal Bears held off Northwestern on Saturday afternoon, 1-0. Cal improves to 2-4 overall while NU drops to 3-4.

Wildcat senior goalkeeper Schoen Liebert was spectacular despite the defeat. Liebert notched 13 saves in the match, nine of which came in the second half. She has allowed only two goals in her three starts, while saving 25 of 27 shots (92.6 percent).

The Bears outshot NU, 13-8, while the two teams had four penalty corners apiece. The Wildcats conclude their west coast swing on Sunday, battling the Pacific Tigers at 3 p.m. in Berkeley.
