EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern freshman women's golfer Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) has been named to this year's All-Big Ten team. She becomes the second Wildcat women's golfer ever to earn all-conference honors. Heather Hoffman was named All-Big Ten in 1995 and 1996.

Beginning this Thursday, Gilley will represent Northwestern at the NCAA East Regional in Blythewood, S.C. It is the first time in the seven-year history of the program that a Wildcat has earned a berth into NCAA Regional competition.

In 11 tournaments this season, Gilley averaged a team-best 79.07 strokes per round, the fourth-best season in Northwestern history. She has finished in the top 20 at nine of those 11 events, including six top-10 finishes. Gilley recorded her best finish at the Bonita Bay Invitational on Oct. 23-24, where she tied for third place at seven-over-par 151 (75-76).

The University of South Carolina will host the NCAA East Regional on Thu.-Sat., May 6-8, at The University Club (par 72-5,996 yards) in Blythewood, S.C. A total of 19 teams, as well as seven individuals not on those teams, have qualified for Regionals. The format calls for one round each of the three days with the top eight teams, plus the top two individuals not on those teams, advancing to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 19-22 in Tulsa, Okla.

Results: Gilley's results from the NCAA East Regional will be posted daily on nusports.com.
