12th-Ranked Women's Swimming Splits Double-Dual

EVANSTON, Ill. - The 12th-ranked Northwestern women's swimming and diving team opened up the second half of its schedule by splitting a double dual meet this weekend. The Wildcats defeated No. 16 Tennessee, 186-166, but fell to the host school, No. 7 Auburn, 201.5-148.5.

Juniors Amy Balcerzak (Sharon, Pa./The Peddie School) and Courtney Allen (Monument, Colo./Air Academy) each scored victories in a pair of races. Balcerzak continued her excellent season by capturing the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best 1:02.12. She also won the 200 individual medley. Allen won both sprint events, taking the 50 freestyle in 22.97 and the 100 freestyle in 50.45. The Wildcats also made a strong showing in the relay events, taking second-place in all four races.

Northwestern returns to action for a home meet Fri., Jan. 22 against Minnesota at the Norris Aquatic Center at 6 p.m.
