Northwestern Field Hockey Falls to Michigan State in Overtime

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University lost in the first overtime to Michigan State at Lakeside Field, Evanston, Ill. The Spartans scored just four minutes into overtime to hand the Cats their ninth loss in the conference.

The Spartans jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Adrienne Miroslaw and Marleen Tuip. NU made it 2-1 at half on a goal by senior Kristy Whitman (Palymra, Pa./Palymra) with just 2:25 remaining. The Cats then turned up the defense as they held MSU to just two second half shots. Northwestern evened the score late in the second half as Colleen Hotz (St. Louis Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) redirected a Kristy Whitman shot with 1:47 remaining on the game clock.

Amy Haase (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) picked up her team leading 11th assist on the year while Whitman and Jodie Condie (St. Louis Mo./Villa Duchesne) also picked up assists.
