Women's Golf Ties for Second at The Shootout

EVANSTON, Ill. - In its final fall event, the Northwestern women's golf team finished tied for second out of 12 teams in the Shootout at the Legends golf tournament. The Shootout was held Monday and Tuesday at The Legends golf course in Franklin, Ind.
The Wildcats shot 289 in Tuesday's only round to finish the tournament with a total of 892 (303-300-289). That was good enough to tie Purdue (306-298-288) and 19 strokes off the pace set by Oklahoma State (293-288-292).
Another Big Ten school, Indiana, was the only other school to break 900 through the three rounds. The Hoosiers carded 899 (304-300-295).
Junior Christie Hermes was Northwestern's top finisher. She shot a 3-over-par total of 219 (71-77-71) to finish in a tie for fourth place. The winner was OSU's Maria Boden, who shot 215 (72-71-72) and beat teammate Christi Cano by two strokes.
Northwestern had two other players in the Top 20, Karen England in 11th with a 223 (80-73-70) and Elizabeth Burden in 18th with a 226 (77-75-74). Colleen Kiely (tied 22nd, 79-78-71=228) and Emily Gilley (tied 26th, 79-74-76=229) rounded out the Wildcat contingent.
