Dr. Jeff Mjaanes joined Northwestern in 2016. He currently serves as the Director of Intercollegiate and Health Service Sports Medicine and Head Team Physician for Northwestern University. He is responsible for managing the Sports Medicine, Performance Nutrition and Sports Performance units.Â
Dr. Mjaanes earned is Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Pediatrics at Rush and a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.Â
Prior to being a NU Wildcat, he worked in private practice at Rush University/Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago and was Medical Director for the Chicago Sports Concussion Clinic at Rush. He has served as team physician for US Soccer and USA Rugby, is a Medical Trainer for World Rugby and sits on the Board of Directors for the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE).
Dr. Mjaanes is originally from Madison, WI. He lives in Highland Park, IL with his wife, Mercedes (and doodle, Bentley). He enjoys skiing, working out, travel and spending time with family.
