Dr. Kristin Abbott has been a member of the Northwestern University Sports Medicine Department since 2013. She is the primary team physician for women’s basketball, cross country, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, lacrosse, and field hockey. Dr. Abbott is also responsible for coordinating and overseeing the educational experience for resident physicians and sports medicine fellows.
Dr. Abbott is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) where she earned a degree in biology and chemistry and was a four-year letter winner on the synchronized figure skating team. She earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine. She completed residency training in family medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Abbott is board certified in family medicine and primary care sports medicine.
Dr. Abbott is a volunteer team physician for US Figure Skating and has accompanied the synchronized skating teams to international competitions.
Dr. Abbott resides in Park Ridge with her husband and two children.
