Northwestern baseball head coach Spencer Allen has announced the addition of Dillion Napoleon as the Wildcats’ volunteer assistant coach.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dillon Napoleon to the Northwestern Baseball family,” said Allen. “Dillon will primarily work with our outfielders, while also assisting with the pitching staff and coaching first base. His character, work ethic and knowledge of the game will help to propel our program forward. We want to give a big welcome to his wife, Bethany, and daughter, Evelyn, who will fit right into our family.”

“I want to thank Coach Allen, sport administrators Travis Goff and Mark Wesooloski and Vice President for Athletics and Recreation Dr. Jim Phillips for giving me the opportunity to work with this group of world-class student-athletes,” said Napoleon. “I believe in the coaching staff’s vision for this program and I am honored to be part of it.”

In addition to Napoleon’s coaching duties, he will serve as the program’s camp coordinator.

Napoleon spent the past five seasons in Mount Berry, Georgia, at Berry College. There he served as the program’s pitching coach, strength and conditioning coach, and video coordinator.

Prior to joining Berry College, Napoleon was a standout pitcher at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. In 2011, he earned second team All-Conference USA honors and became the first player in UAB history to be named Conference USA’s Newcomer of the Year. As a senior at UAB, Napoleon put together a 5-4 mark on the mound and earned victories over three nationally ranked teams, including No. 5 Rice, No. 14 Central Florida and No. 16 Clemson.

Napoleon transferred to the Blazers after an All-American career at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois. In addition to earning NJCAA All-America honors at Heartland, he was named the Midwest Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore.

Napoleon earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Management from the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2012 and an associate’s degree from Heartland Community College in 2010.

He is the younger brother of current Wildcats assistant coach Dusty Napoleon.

Napoleon and his wife, Bethany, reside in Wilmette, with their daughter, Evelyn.
