A native of nearby Wilmette, Ill., Tilson arrives to Evanston after multiple stints with a handful of MLB organizations. He most recently was with the Pittsburgh Pirates on a minor league deal and spent time with the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals as well. 
 
Tilson was originally selected by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft after forgoing his offer to play collegiately at the University of Illinois. Five years later, he played with Triple-A Memphis for 100 games, producing a .282/.345/.407 slash line with four home runs, 34 RBI’s, 53 runs and 15 stolen bases. 
 
Halfway through the 2016 season, Tilson was traded from the Cardinals to the White Sox. Just two days after joining the organization, he made his professional debut and recorded his first major league hit. Tilson would go on to spend three seasons with the Sox.
