Marilyn Peck Hall (Women's Swimming and Diving, 1987-91)
A four-time Big Ten champion and 11-time All-American, Marilyn Peck Hall was the first true distance freestyle ace of the NU swimming and diving program.
As a freshman in 1988, Peck won the Big Ten championship in the 1,650 freestyle and was a member of the conference-champion 800 free relay. She garnered another 800 free relay conference title in 1989 before capturing a second individual crown in 1990, this time in the 200 freestyle.
Peck won All-America awards in all four of her collegiate seasons. She won individual accolades in the 200 free twice, the 500 free twice, and the 1,650 free once as well as picking up All-America honors with the 800 free relay in four-consecutive NCAA Championships.
During her career, Peck held school records in all of the distance freestyle events. She was NU’s school-record holder in the 500 freestyle for an astonishing 17 years, retaining that title through an era when the Wildcats regularly finished among the top 15 teams in the country.
Peck won four Academic All-Big Ten awards and was NU’s 1991 recipient of the Big Ten Medal of Honor. She represented Northwestern and the United States at the 1991 World University Games, earning a silver medal with the 4x200 freestyle relay.
