Take The Train

CTA, Metra, and Pace all provide service to Ryan Field and Welsh-Ryan Arena!

Sometimes the easiest way to get to Northwestern football and basketball games is by taking the train -- or even the bus! We list here your various options if you would rather not take your car and fight the traffic and parking hassles.

The "El": Take the CTA Red Line train north to Howard, where you connect to the Purple Line; take the Purple Line to the Central stop (please note that during rush hour, the Purple Line runs express from downtown Chicago). Once you get off the train at Central, you can either walk three blocks west to Ryan Field -- past the fire station, away from the hospitals -- or connect to the westbound #201 CTA bus that stops a block from the stadium (Welsh-Ryan Arena is directly north of Ryan Field).

Metra: The Metra Union Pacific North Line from downtown Chicago and Kenosha, Wis. stops at Central Street, where you may walk three blocks east on Central to Ryan Field or connect to the eastbound #201 CTA bus that stops a block from the stadium (Welsh-Ryan Arena is directly north of Ryan Field). If you cross Green Bay Road, you are walking in the wrong direction.

Pace (bus): Pace route #213 runs along Green Bay Road and connects with five other Pace routes, and also stops at Central Street.
