After another exciting Big Ten football season, the Wildcats are looking forward to opening up the 2015 season at home against Stanford!! You could be on the field for that game! Northwestern Cheerleaders cheer at all home and away football games. With games scheduled at Duke, Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Illinois this year, there are great travel opportunities to be had! You could have a chance to cheer at some of the most storied stadiums in college athletics! The NU Cheerleaders also makes appearances at all home men's and women's basketball games, as well as assorted school and alumni events throughout the year. Great opportunities abound!

Try-outs for the 2015-2016 Northwestern Cheer Team will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 1-5pm at Welsh-Ryan Arena, in the McGaw Fieldhouse. New applicants must schedule an interview time with Coach Bonnevier. Interviews will be conducted on Sunday April 26th from 11-1pm. Current team member interviews will be immediately following try-out. Try-out performance will help determine game travel opportunities as well as game/appearance assignments.

Applicant should wear:

  • Purple t-shirt
  • Black shorts
  • Cheer shoes
  • Hair half up/half down with your choice of bow
  • Makeup, including lipstick
Applicant should be prepared to:
  • Learn and perform a short chant
  • Learn and perform a short dance
  • Jump
  • Tumble (not mandatory, however highly encouraged)
  • Build
  • Answer interview questions
Applicants must:

Physical, insurance card and all waivers must be provided at the try-out, or individuals will not be allowed to participate. No exceptions can be made. Your doctor's office will not fax these to you. Please plan accordingly.

Video Applications

Video applications will be accepted, however whenever possible, attendance at the try-out is encouraged. Applicant should perform a cheer/chant with motions, a dance, jump, tumble (if possible), and build. Applicant must also submit a short essay (written or video) as to why they want to represent Northwestern as a member of the Northwestern Cheer Team. Videos can be mailed, emailed or posted online. Videos must be received by April 24, 2015. Videos should be sent to:
