Tyler Jorgensen joined Northwestern as assistant director of sports performance prior to the 2011-12 athletic season. Jorgensen works primarily with softball, men's tennis and women's soccer while overseeing the cross country training program.

Jorgensen's responsibilities with those teams include implementing acceleration, change of direction, plyometric, injury prevention, flexibility/mobility, recovery and strength and conditioning programs. Jorgensen has helped lead men's tennis to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances while helping Softball reach the NCAA tournament in 2012.

A native of Clarinda, Iowa, Jorgensen came to Northwestern from the University of Georgia where he worked as a Strength & Conditioning Coach for Olympic sports from 2007-11. While at UGA, Jorgensen helped lead UGA to its first two Women's College Softball World Series appearances and top five national rankings in 2009 and 2010. Additionally UGA softball reached the programs first ever No. 1 ranking in 2011.

Jorgensen earned his bachelor's degree in fitness & sports management from Midland University in Fremont, Neb., while also earning a minor in nutrition in 2005. While at Midland, Jorgensen was a four-year letter winner in football. In 2007, he earned his master's degree in health, physical education and recreation (HPER) from South Dakota State University. Jorgensen is a Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa).

Tyler, his wife Kate and daughter Abigail reside in Gurnee, Ill.
