Betty Robinson Schwartz (Track, 1930-32)
As a 16-year-old high school student, Schwartz earned a place on the 1928 U.S. Olympic team by winning the 100-yard dash in tryouts. She won the gold medal in Amsterdam in 1932 in the 100-yard dash, equaling the world record, and came back after a severe accident to run on the 1936 Olympic gold medal 400-meter relay team, which took home the gold medal. Schwartz was America's first woman Olympic gold-medal winner in track.
