John H. Riley (Football, Wrestling, 1929-31, Wrestling Coach, 1948-57)
Riley captured All-Big Ten honors on the 1930 and 1931 championship football teams and was named to the All-America team in 1931. He won the NCAA heavyweight wrestling championship in 1930 and 1931, and won a silver medal at the 1932 Olympic Games.
After graduating from NU, Riley spent two years as a pro wrestler, played in the NFL for the Washington Redskins, and later coached wrestling at Northwestern from 1948-57.
