Julia Ade Levering (Honorary Inductee)

Levering, a 1960 graduate of Northwestern, became the first woman president of the United States Tennis Association's 118-year-old history on Jan. 1, 1999. She had previously served as the first vice-president of the USTA and was initially elected to its board of directors in 1994, following 16 years of active volunteer service to tennis.

In addition, Levering completed a two-year term on the International Tennis Federation's Committee of Management, chairing its Media Commission and serving on its Federation Cup Committee. While at Northwestern, Levering was an active member of the Women's Athletic Association in the late 1950s and was later awarded a lifetime N Club membership.

An avid tennis player, Levering competed in sectional, national and international senior tennis events and advanced to the finals of the USTA Mother and Daughter Championships in 1993 with her daughter, Laura.
