Arthur "Art" Highland (Swimming, 1932-34)
Art Highland, a three-year letterwinner and captain of the men's swimming team in 1934, was a three-time Big Ten Champion, a two-time national champion and a member of the 1936 U.S. Olympic team. As a sophomore in 1932, he captured the Big Ten Championship and later the national championship as a member of the 400-yard free relay. The following year, he led his team to a national championship. That year, he won the Big Ten title in the 100-yard free, repeated as champ with the 400 free relay team and won a national title in the 300-yard medley relay. He capped off his career by earning a spot in the 100-meter free on the 1936 U.S. Olympic team that competed in Berlin.
