Grant Golden (Tennis, 1948-51)
Golden was a three-year letter winner for the Northwestern tennis team, participating during one of the most prosperous periods in the program's history. Golden helped lead NU to conference championships in each of his three years. In 1948, he took the conference title at No. 5 singles, also teaming with Marvin Beskin to win the No. 2 doubles championship. As a senior two years later, Golden won both championships again, claiming both the No. 1 conference singles and doubles crowns.
Golden's efforts earned him All-America honors in 1950. After graduating from NU, Golden played tennis professionally, and he was ranked in the top 10 in singles in the U.S. in 1953, 1956 and 1957, as well as a No. 2 ranking in doubles in 1953. Golden also won the National Clay Courts championship and represented the United States in the Davis Cup.
