Justin Dart (Football, 1929-31)

A three-sport star while at Northwestern, Dart earned three letters in football, two in track and one in wrestling. An all-conference selection at guard, he helped NU to the 1926 conference championship in football. Dart twice set the Northwestern records for the hammer throw as a member of the track and field team. He set a record of 150 feet, 1 inch as a junior and then bettered that mark with a throw of 156 feet as a senior in 1928. Dart went on to post a third-place finish in the hammer throw at the NCAA Championships that same year.

Dart became an executive for the Walgreens chain after marrying Charles Walgreen's daughter, Ruth. Dart later acquired stakes in several companies, including Duracell and Archer Glass, all of which were known collectively as Dart Industries. Dart also helped convince his close friend, Ronald Reagan, to run for president in 1980.
