Ronald E. Burton (Football, 1957-59)
In 1958, Burton was named an All-America halfback and was second in the Big Ten in scoring, first in receiving, fourth in rushing and third in punt returns. Burton was a first-round draft choice in both the AFL and NFL drafts, and played halfback for the Boston Patriots. A tremendous contributor to Northwestern and its athletics program, the eastern wing in Anderson Hall is named after Burton.
Burton became a motivational speaker after retiring from professional football. He also established the Ron Burton Training Village, which holds free summer camps for disadvantaged inner-city youths. He was also an active adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
