'Cats Drop Series Finale at Washington

SEATTLE – Northwestern dropped the rubber game at Washington, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at Husky Ballpark.
The Wildcats (9-14-1, 3-6 Big Ten) took an early lead on an RBI single from INF Ryan Kucherak in the top of the first, scoring in the first inning for the third straight game.
The Huskies (12-15, 6-6 Big Ten) grabbed the lead with three unearned runs on a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. UW added one in the sixth and three in the seventh to stretch its lead to 7-1.
In the top of the eighth, INF Owen McElfatrick slugged a solo homer to right-center. The homer moved McElfatrick into sole possession of fourth place in program history with 29 career home runs.
Northwestern returns home when it hosts Valparaiso on Tuesday, March 31, at 3 p.m. CT on B1G+. The Wildcats resume Big Ten play with a three-game series against Michigan State next weekend at Miller Park.
