Sullivan leads all scorers with 35 points
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (February 1, 2026) – Behind a game-high 35 points from Grace Sullivan, Northwestern (8-14, 2-9 B1G) staged a valiant second-half comeback, ultimately dropping an 89-75 decision to Indiana (12-11, 1-10 B1G) this afternoon at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind.
How It Happened
Following an old-fashioned three-point play from Tayla Thomas that gave Northwestern a brief 3-2 edge less than a minute in, Indiana stepped on the accelerator, rattling off 11 unanswered points to prompt a Wildcat timeout with the Hoosiers in front, 13-3.
Casey Harter connected from beyond the three-point arc with 90 seconds gone in the second quarter to snap a lengthy scoring drought for Northwestern. Sullivan looked to find a rhythm as the quarter wore on, scoring on three of four possessions to cut Indiana's lead to 45-12. The senior converted on a conventional three-point play of her own in the frame's closing seconds as the Hoosiers held a 55-26 lead at the intermission.
The 'Cats amped up their pressure on the defensive end coming out of the locker room. Caroline Lau converted off a Harter steal near the midway point of the quarter to put the exclamation point on a 13-2 Northwestern tear that trimmed the gap to 62-44.
Northwestern put together another spurt coming out of the gate in the fourth quarter, with two DaiJa Turner buckets providing the bookends to a 12-0 surge featuring eight points from Sullivan to help the Wildcats close the margin to 77-67 with 4:51 to play in regulation. That would prove to be as close as the visitors would get for the remainder of the afternoon, as Indiana held on for a victory on its home floor.
