'Cats Climb to Second Place After Round Two of NCAA Championship Finals

CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 17, 2025) – The Northwestern University Women's Golf team jumped up six spots on the team leaderboard and now sits in second place after round two of the NCAA Championship Finals in Carlsbad, Calif.
 
On Sunday, the 'Cats will tee off at 8:30 a.m. CT.  After round three, of the 30 competing teams, only the top 15, and nine individuals not on an advancing team, will continue to the next round.
 
Today, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, the Wildcats shot a three-under 285. Only the No. 1 team in the country, Stanford (278), is ahead of the 'Cats after shooting 10-under-par on the day. Oregon, Southern California and Florida State round out the top 5. Mississippi State's Avery Weed shot a four-under 68 to take the individual lead.
 
Northwestern, who played in the morning wave, was once again led by Dianna Lee and Ashley Yun, who both carded a one-under 71. For the second consecutive day, Lauryn Nguyen finished at even par. Elise Lee was the fourth Wildcat on Saturday to finish at or under par, carding a one-under 71 to finish at two-over. Hsin Tai Lin shot one-over and sits at seven-over for the tournament.
