SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (December 14, 2025) – Caroline Lau became the seventh player in program history to record 500 career assists, while Grace Sullivan posted her seventh straight game of 20-plus points as Northwestern (6-4, 0-1 B1G) fell to Utah (8-3) by a final score of 91-66 this afternoon inside the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
How It Happened
Tate Lash came away with a steal and score just under two minutes in to give Northwestern its first lead of the afternoon, 4-3. After a driving score by Xamiya Walton staked the 'Cats to a 10-9 edge, Sullivan rattled off eight straight points, the last two of which stretched the margin to 18-13. With the lead sitting at 24-20 following two Lau makes at the charity stripe, Lani White connected from distance in the closing seconds to trim Northwestern's advantage to 24-23.
Tayla Thomas went to work inside to open the second quarter, finishing through contact on the way to an old-fashioned three-point play that reestablished a four-point lead, 27-23. Angelina Hodgens looked to provide a spark off the bench, drilling a three that tied the game at 34-34 at the 3:16 mark. Utah countered with a half-ending 12-2 surge to race into the locker room with a 46-36 lead.
Following a pair of Sullivan free throws that trimmed the gap to 48-38 early in the third quarter, Utah knocked down triples on three consecutive trips to create separation en route to its fifth straight win.
