‘Cats set for return to postseason competition in 2026
EVANSTON, Ill. (November 26, 2025) – Under the direction of seventh-year head coach Jill Miller, the Northwestern University track team released its schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 indoor season on Wednesday. The Wildcats are slated to compete in nine meets during the regular season ahead of making the program's return to postseason competition in late February.
"We are thrilled to embark on our first fully sponsored year through championship season," Miller commented. "Building on the momentum of our cross country campaign, our team will compete on some of the nation's premier tracks. I am excited for them to gain valuable experience and to position ourselves to perform at our highest level during the championship phase of the indoor track season."
Miller's team will get an early start to its indoor campaign when it splits squads in the first week of December, competing at both the Cougar Alumni Open (Dec. 5) in Chicago, Ill. and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener (Dec. 6) in Boston, Mass.
The 'Cats return to action following the turn of the new calendar year, visiting Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood on January 10 for the Phoenix Invitational. A trip to the Pacific Northwest follows, as Northwestern competes at the prestigious UW Preview in Seattle, Wash., January 16-17. A select group of student-athletes will also be in action closer to home in suburban Naperville, Ill. at the Pat Heenan Invitational (Jan. 17).
As January comes to a close, Northwestern's push toward the postseason kicks into gear, as the Wildcats make the short trip east to South Bend, Ind. for the University of Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, January 30-31.
Northwestern will again split squads as the calendar turns to February, with athletes scheduled to compete at both the Blue Demon Alumni Classic (Feb. 13) in Chicago, Ill. and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational (Feb. 14) in Boston, Mass. The 'Cats will close out their regular-season slate on February 21 at the Margaret Bradley Invitational in Chicago, Ill.
Northwestern begins its return to postseason competition at the Big Ten Conference Indoor Championships, February 26-28, at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Ind.
The University of Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center will serve as the host site for the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 13-14.
