EVANSTON, Ill. - Mika Dagan Fruchtman has been selected as a women's tennis Big Ten Player to Watch ahead of the 2025 dual season, the conference announced Monday. Dagan Fruchtman, a first year, earns the honor after a stand-out first fall with the Wildcats.
A native of Ra'anana, Israel, Dagan Fruchtman joined Head Coach Claire Pollard's squad ahead of the 2024-25 season. She made an immediate impact during fall tournament play, playing alongside Britany Lau in an ITA Doubles campaign that brought the pair just shy of NCAA Tournament qualification. Alongside Lau, Dagan Fruchtman reached the semifinal rounds of both the ITA Midwest Regional and the ITA Central Sectional. Lau and Dagan Fruchtman were named alternates for the 2024 NCAA Doubles Tournament following their fourth-place finish at sectionals.
In total, Dagan Fruchtman compiled 11 combined singles and doubles wins across two months of individual action. Following a juniors career that earned her three national titles, the first year will seek to help the 'Cats back to the NCAA Team Tournament this spring for the 25th time in the last 26 years.
Pollard's squad will open their winter schedule with the Quad Invite on Jan. 10-12, then open dual play the following weekend against Butler. The 'Cats' full winter and spring slate will be announced shortly.
