Lauryn Nguyen Named WGCA All-American

Junior collects Honorable Mention nod from organization
EVANSTON, Ill. (May 24, 2024) – Northwestern University junior Lauryn Nguyen (Seattle, Wash./West Seattle) has been tabbed an All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), it was announced on Friday. An Honorable Mention selection, Nguyen is the 11th All-American in program history, all of which have come under head coach Emily Fletcher and assistant coach Beth Miller.
Nguyen enjoyed an outstanding 2023-24 campaign, closing the year with four top-five finishes. A First Team All-Big Ten selection, Nguyen wrapped up the season with a sparking 71.49 stroke average across 37 rounds of play, a mark that bested former Wildcat Irene Kim's previous single-season school record of 71.83 (2020-21). She posted a team-best 24 rounds at par or better, seven of which came in the 60s.
A two-time Big Ten Golfer of the Week selection, Nguyen secured her first collegiate victory during the fall when Northwestern hosted the Windy City Collegiate Classic in suburban Golf, Ill. The Seattle, Wash. native fired a scorching 11-under-par 205 (66-70-69) to take home individual medalist honors and help lead the 'Cats to a runner-up finish in the team race.
In January, Nguyen, who appeared on the Final Fall Watch List for the 2023-24 ANNIKA Award, became just the fourth Wildcat in program history to earn an invitation to the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur. She went on to close the year with top-10 finishes in three of her final four appearances, highlighted by a fourth-place showing at the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships in April.
