Wildcats,

With our spring sports in full swing, I am encouraged by the tailwinds that Northwestern Athletics and Recreation has at its back.

First, I want to congratulate our lacrosse team for winning yet another Big Ten regular season title. Your defeat of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday was everything we have come to expect of the Lake Show: All heart and never giving up! Your hard work and dedication have made you reigning national champions, and I have no doubt that you will give it your all in the Big Ten Tournament, which we are hosting at Martin Stadium. The semifinals take place Thursday, May 2 – come out and support our 'Cats at Noon CT – with the championship on Saturday, May 4. Know that the entire Wildcat community is behind you every step of the way!

I am also looking forward to the Martin athletics facility that the university will be building on the lakeside. Our gameday experience on the lakefront will be second to none. This innovative project, which keeps our team playing on-campus, reflects our commitment to providing the best environment for both student-athletes and fans. Your continued dedication to excellence on the field makes endeavors like this possible, and I am confident it will elevate our Northwestern spirit to new heights.

The lakefront facility will be the temporary home for our football program for the next two seasons while the new Ryan Field is being built, bridging the gap between the old Ryan Field and the new state-of-the-art venue. Importantly, our lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, and field hockey programs have been supportive of this project and will greatly benefit from the new and improved facility. During the construction phase, we will all work together to minimize any disruptions.

Tonight, Coach Ben Greenspan and the baseball team will take on Purdue at iconic Wrigley Field. It is always fun to play at the Friendly Confines while showing our purple pride. Our championship softball team is once again on top of the Big Ten standings with six games to go in the regular season. We are also currently hosting the Big Ten men's tennis tournament here in Evanston. Best of luck to all Wildcats participating in this event!

God Bless and Go 'Cats!

Positively,

Dr. Gragg
