Wildcats,

March is Women's History Month and recently, on March 8, we celebrated International Women's Day. Within NUDAR, we are colleagues and friends with talented, incredible women who give their all to what we are trying to achieve as a collective: The holistic development of our student-athletes while they are with us in Evanston and, most importantly, preparing them for future success.

We have some of the most successful and respected women head coaches in the country and many of them have chosen Northwestern as their home for a long time. Claire Pollard (women's tennis,1999), Kate Drohan (softball, 2002), Kelly Amonte Hiller (lacrosse, 2002), Emily Fletcher (women's golf, 2008), Tracey Fuchs (field hockey, 2009), Jill Miller (cross country, 2019) and Rachel Stratton-Mills (swimming and diving, 2023) all embody NUDAR's core values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence.

This is a group of professionals that combined have earned nine national team championships, 20 Big Ten Coach of the Year honors, including four reigning Big Ten Coach of the Year awards, dozens of NCAA Tournament appearances, numerous NCAA championship game appearances, multiple Hall of Fame inductions, countless conference and regular season titles, as well as individual student-athlete championships. Additionally, we are looking forward to seeing Coach Fuchs and multiple Wildcat student-athletes compete at this summer's Olympics in Paris. These women bring an unwavering commitment to excellence to our athletics department. I am so thankful that our leaders have made Northwestern their school of choice.

More importantly, these head coaches have made a commitment to support each other, as we witnessed at recent lacrosse and field hockey national championship games in North Carolina. These role models always set an example for us all.

On behalf of the hundreds of team members across NUDAR, we want our head coaches – as well as their support staffs – to know that we appreciate all they do for our student-athletes, our sport programs, and our Northwestern community.

God Bless and Go 'Cats!

Positively,

Dr. Gragg
