Wildcats Drop Game Two at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – No. 12 Duke's first inning outburst propelled the Blue Devils past Northwestern, 8-2, on Saturday afternoon at Jack Coombs Field.
Northwestern (1-4) got on the board first in Saturday's contest, when Bennett Markinson drove in Tyler Ganus to give NU a 1-0 lead. The RBI single extended Markinson's season-opening hit streak to five games.
Duke (6-0) responded with five runs in the bottom half of the first inning, and extended the lead with one run in the third and two runs in the sixth inning.
Northwestern got one back in the bottom of the ninth when Tyler Ganus doubled home Drewbie Pinkston, but Duke closed the game out for an 8-2 victory to remain undefeated.
Andrew Healy earns the win for the Blue Devils,
Matt McClure is credited with the loss after allowing five runs in 0.1 innings of action. Luke Benneche was solid in relief, surrendering five hits and one run in 4.2 innings of work.Kyle Potthoff worked three scoreless innings, issuing one walk and allowing zero hits.
