Men Win All Eight Races, ‘Cats Dominate Meet Day One at Duke

Durham, N.C. – Northwestern had a very successful day one at Duke's Taishoff Aquatics Center on Friday afternoon. The men's team went undefeated, winning all eight of their races, and the 'Cats won 10 of 16 races overall, including three of four relays. The men's team currently leads Duke 116.5-49.5, while the women's team trail 98-66.
Day two of the two-day meet will begin tomorrow morning, Saturday, Nov. 9, with diving starting at 9:00 a.m. CT, followed by swimming at 10:00 a.m. CT. Saturday's action will be broadcast on ACCNX.

Event 2: Men 400 Yard Medley Relay
First place: Northwestern's David Gerchik, Tyler Lu, Cade Duncan & Stuart Seymour (3:10.91).
Event 3: Women 1650 Yard Free
First place: Northwestern's Luiza Lima (16:39.95).
Event 4: Men 1650 Yard Free
'Cats finish 1-2-3: Joshua Staples (15:19.04), Tristan Prizler (15:39.99) & Alexander Rousseau (15:49.08).
Event 6: Men 200 Yard Free
First place: NU's Diego Nosack (1:38.04).
Second place: NU's Malachi Cohen (1:38.33).
Event 8: Men 100 Yard Back
Wildcats Stuart Seymour (47.04) & David Gerchik (47.60) finish 1-2.
Event 9: Women 100 Yard Breast
NU's Sophie Martin (1:00.31) comes close against Duke's best, Kaelyn Gridley (59.24), a top-15 swimmer in the country. Wildcat Maggie Papanicholas finishes third (1:02.08).
Event 10: Men 100 Yard Breast
Tyler Lu (54.16) defeats Duke's Kalen Anbar (54.86).
Event 12: Men 200 Yard Fly
Diego Nosack (1:47.51) with his second win of the meet. Right behind him in second place is NU's Tonahuc Zinn (1:47.63).
Event 14: Men 50 Yard Free
Cade Duncan wins (20.08). Stuart Seymour places second (20.39).
Event 15: Women 800 Yard Free Relay
NU sweeps both relays to finish the day. Nikki Venema, Sydney Smith, Zoe Nordmann & Brianna Deierlein (7:13.45) win the race.
Event 16: Men 800 Yard Free Relay
Joshua Staples, Malachi Cohen, Cade Duncan & Diego Nosack end the day on a high note.
