EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern cross country will continue their fall slate on Saturday in Charlottesville as they join several of the nation's top teams at the Virginia Invitational. The women's race, which takes place on the National Championship course, begins at 8:30 a.m. CT.
Northwestern will hit the course on Saturday as a top-30 team after being ranked 29th in the USTFCCCA week one poll. They sit at third in the competitive Midwest Region behind No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 26 Iowa State.
After finishing first at the Flyers Flames Challenge and placing third at the Big Ten Preview, Jill Miller's squad will face a tough test in Charlottesville as they go toe-to-toe with several of last year's NCAA qualifiers. The field of 23 includes 11 ranked teams, including Northwestern, No. 5 Colorado, and hosts No. 11 Virginia.
Following this weekend's race, the 'Cats will return home next Friday to take on local foes at the Loyola Lakefront Challenge.
