Rachel McCardell Named CSC Academic All-American

EVANSTON, Ill. - Rachel McCardell has been named a CSC Division I Second Team All-American, the organization announced Wednesday.
McCardell capped off her college career with an historic fifth season, breaking four program records during indoor and outdoor track competition to give her five total standing records at Northwestern. She opened cross country season with two top-five finishes, placed seventh overall at the Big Ten Championship, and helped the 'Cats to an eighth-place finish and a NCAA Championship berth at the Midwest Regional.
Her standout fall season earned McCardell her second straight All-Big Ten selection while her third-place finish at the Midwest Regional - the highest ever by a Northwestern athlete - netted her All-Midwest Region honors as well. In the midst of it all, McCardell earned her fourth Academic All-Big Ten Award as well as USTFCCCA Academic All-American honors for her work in the classroom.
The grad student finished a Certificate in Managerial Analytics with an unblemished GPA of 4.0 this spring after earning her BS in computer science.
