'Cats Conclude Outdoor Season at NIU Huskie May Classic

DEKALB, Ill. — The 'Cats bounced back from competing at Drake Relays last weekend to race locally at the NIU Huskie May Classic.
Each coming off of a heavily competitive 5K or 10K at Drake, Katherine Hessler, Mia Mraz, Elizabeth Bulat and Whitney Currie swept firtst through fourth place in the Women's 3,000m Run. Hessler took the race from the gun and earned her second win of the 2023 Outdoor Season. Audrey Bannister, also up in the mix of the race, took 6th place for the 'Cats.
Deepti Choudhury and Olivia Verbeke (UNAT) also bounced back from running a 5K at Drake to sweep the Women's 1500m at NIU. Choudhury, taking first place, gauged off the leaders for majority of the race and gapped the field with 500m to go. Olivia Verbeke, competing unattached, battled down the homestretch and inched her way to a second-place finish.
This concludes the 2023 Outdoor Season for the Wildcats. The team looks forward to preparing for the 2023 Cross Country Season in the final weeks of the Spring Quarter.

Elizabeth Bulat: 10:32.99, 3rd place
Whitney Currie: 10:38.64, 4th place
Audrey Bannister: 10:48.02, 6th place
Women's 1500m Run

Olivia Verbeke (UNAT): 4:47.59, 2nd place
