Northwestern tees off at PGA National for 13th consecutive postseason appearance
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida -- Northwestern women's golf tees off the NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Regional on Monday morning at PGA National (6,312 yards, Par 72), aiming to secure a spot in the 2023 NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club (Scottsdale, Arizona).

The Wildcats finished the regular-season ranked No. 15 in the nation, and enter Monday's opening round as the third seed, paired with No. 3 LSU and No. 10 Texas, the Regional's other top two seeds. The 'Cats enter the NCAA postseason as one of the hottest teams in the country, with five Top-3 results in the previous six tournaments, including back-to-back wins at the PING/ASU Invitational and the Silverado Showdown.
Big Ten Coach of the Year Emily Fletcher and assistant Beth Miller have guided the Wildcats to 13 consecutive NCAA Regional appearances and will bring an experienced lineup into PGA National this week, including four First Team All-Big Ten honorees.
This week marks the fourth NCAA Regional appearance of Kelly Sim's decorated career, after representing the Wildcats at the 2022 and 2021 Stanford Regionals, and the 2019 Cle Elum Regional. It is the third for Jieni Li (2022, 2021) and the second for both Lauryn Nguyen (2022) and Irene Kim (2021). Rookie Dianna Lee makes her NCAA postseason debut this week in south Florida.
Northwestern is seeking its eighth trip since 2013 to the NCAA Championships.

NCAA Regional play will take place May 8-10 at six regional sites, with a total of 396 student-athletes competing. All six regional sites will have 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site, 156 student-athletes total, will advance to play in the national championships to be played May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Championship play will be hosted by Arizona State and The Thunderbirds, with the final three days of the championships televised live by the GOLF Channel.
