'Cats Ready For College Golf's Biggest Stage

Northwestern prepared for eighth trip to NCAA Women's Golf Championships since 2013
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- After earning its eighth invite since 2013 to college golf's biggest stage, Northwestern will tee off the 2023 NCAA Women's Golf Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club on Friday at 12:47pm MST. The No. 15 Wildcats will be paired with No. 11 Texas and No. 12 Baylor on the tournament's opening two days.

Now in their 15th season together, 2023 Big Ten Coach of the Year Emily Fletcher and assistant Beth Miller have guided the 'Cats to eight NCAA Championships since 2013 after the program made just one appearance in its history before their arrival (2000). Earlier this week Fletcher, the five-time Conference Coach of the Year, was named to the Watch List of the 2022-23 Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year.
Their lineup this week in Arizona has driven Northwestern to a remarkable spring season during which they won the PING/ASU Invitational (at Papago Golf Course, just 25 miles from the site of this week's action) and the Silverado Showdown, and finished in the Top-3 of six of their last seven events.

Sim, a graduate student from Edgewater, New Jersey, is the lone holdover from the 2019 NCAA Championships squad that made the cut and finished 13th. Her second round 74 was one of the Wildcats best scores of the competition at the rigorous Blessings Golf Club.
Northwestern's 2022-23 campaign is on its way to being one of the best in program history. Apart from the two tournament wins, and this week's trip to Grayhawk, the team has thus far posted its best season scoring average (288.27) in the 'Cats record book. Were the season to end today, Kelly Sim (71.9), Jieni Li (72.4), Dianna Lee (72.5) and Lauryn Nguyen (72.6) all would claim spots in the Wildcats Top-10 for best individual season scoring average.
This year's event will receive extensive coverage on GOLF Channel. Live coverage of the individual championship will begin at 4pm CT on Monday, May 22. Team match play quarterfinal coverage will begin at 11am CT on Tuesday, May 23, with the semifinals to follow in the afternoon starting at 4pm CT. Coverage of the 2023 NCAA Women's Golf Championship Match will air from 4-8pm CT on Wednesday, May 24. Broadcast talent will include Bob Papa, Paige McKenzie, Steve Burkowski, Billy Ray Bornw, Jim Gallagher Jr and Julia Johnson. College Central and Golf Central will be anchored Monday-Wednesday by Anna Jackson, Amanda Blumenherst, Kira K. Dixon, and Amy Rogers.
