National Student-Athlete Day was an example of what we're capable of when we collaborate
Wildcats,
Earlier this month, schools across the country celebrated National Student-Athlete Day. Each year this is an opportunity to engage the Northwestern community in support of our Wildcats and our mission.
I am proud to share that this year's efforts exceeded goals for both donations and donors. It also was the most productive one-day fundraising initiative on our campus, which speaks to the passion and commitment and belief of our family and fans.
This type of success - which impacts our ENTIRE department now and in the future – is not the result of one person, on one day, but a comprehensive, months-long, collaborative effort between Alumni Relations & Development, External Operations, Academic Services & Student Development and more, to drive the type of support that fuels our ambition across 19 teams and more than 500 student-athletes. It is the tangible result of the type of modern, industry-leading systems our executive leadership and staff have worked so hard to build. It also is a reminder of how much stronger we can be together, than as individuals.
Capitalizing on the momentum of success, and sustaining that energy, is so critical in our industry. Whether we are recruiting student-athletes, coaches, staff or fans, the enthusiasm created by wins in the classroom, in the community and in competition is immeasurable. As we enter the home stretch of spring seasons with championship aspirations, our fall and winter teams have turned the page and are building the foundation to be even better in 2023-24.
