Five 'Cats Post Personal Bests at Illini Challenge

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — This weekend the 'Cats traveled south to University of Illinois to continue their spring slate at the Illini Challenge.
The 'Cats raced as a pack in the Women's 1500m run, which led each athlete to a collegiate personal best time in the event. Winning the event was Second Year, Anna Hightower, with a time of 4:27.96. The time puts her at number four in program history for the event. Battling close behind were teammates Ava Earl (4:34.74), Deepti Choudhury (4:36.64), Maddy Whitman (4:39.21), and Olivia Verbeke (4:40.29).
Next to the track was the Women's 5,000 m run. Katherine Hessler kicked off her track season with a first-place finish in a time of 17:02.42. Abbie Draheim ran her debut track race for the 'Cats with a ninth place finish and a time of 17:34.48. Following close behind Draheim was senior, Elizabeth Bulat, with a tenth place finish in a time of 17:39.44.
The 'Cats head west for their next competition to compete at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational on April 13th and 14th .
