EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern cross country had three athletes recognized on Monday with USTFCCCA All-Region honors. After their Top-25 finishes at the Midwest Regional last Friday, Ava Earl, Kalea Bartolotto and Katherine Hessler all took home the award.
Earl finished first among 'Cats with a 20:42.3 6k, just four seconds off of her personal best. Following Earl was Bartolotto, placing ninth with a time of 20:43.4. Both runners secured the second All-Region awards of their career. Hessler finished 13th at 20:47.6 and took home her first ever All-Region honors.
Northwestern is one of just four Big Ten schools to place three or more runners in the top-25 in their region. Head Coach Jill Miller has now led the Wildcats to three or more All-Region finishes for the second straight year after last season's team saw four top-25 finishes.
As one of the top four individual regional finishers that did not belong to an automatic qualifying or at-large team, Ava Earl will be representing Northwestern at the NCAA Championship at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, VA taking place this Saturday, November 18. The women's race begins at 9:20 a.m. CT and can be viewed on ESPNU.
