Initiative to raise funds for breast cancer research

EVANSTON, Ill. (October 12, 2023) – The Northwestern University women's golf team will close out the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule in just over a week when it travels west for the Stanford Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif.

The 19-team field will be playing for much more than a championship or individual accolades.  Northwestern and its counterparts will "PlayforHer" as part of an initiative to raise vital funds in support of breast cancer research.  The 2023 edition of the Stanford Intercollegiate has been dedicated to veteran University of California, Berkley head coach Nancy McDaniel, with all funds raised to be directed towards Dr. Hope Rugo at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), who serves as McDaniel's oncologist.

How can you help?

Please click here to either sponsor each birdie the Wildcats make during the Stanford Intercollegiate or make a flat donation. At the conclusion of the event, Condoleezza Rice will award and recognize the team and individual who makes the most birdies, thereby making the biggest impact.

How will your money help?

Rather than give to a national foundation, the funds will go directly to world renowned, Dr. Hope Rugo at UCSF Helen Diller Cancer Center in San Francisco.  She will be able to utilize the money to fund her cutting-edge research, thereby helping patients more quickly and making a change instantly.

Will I get a tax write off?

Yes, you will automatically get a tax receipt after making the gift.
