Wisconsin continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 41-26 advantage before Northwestern went on a 15-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Weaver, to tie things up at 41 with 5:20 to go in the third. The Wildcats could not advance their rally further as the Badgers took a 56-50 lead into the fourth quarter. Northwestern played well near the basket, scoring 14 of its 24 points in the paint.

Northwestern narrowed its deficit to 66-61 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Caroline Lau's three, to seize a 68-66 lead with 1:58 to go in the contest. The Wildcats kept expanding the margin and closed it out with a pair of stops, ending the game with a 70-67 win.
